The Twickenham Winds is an adult community concert band in Huntsville, AL, made up of former Huntsville High band students and area professional musicians.  Many of the players are also engineers, doctors, teachers, music ministers, homemakers, and college students.  This group was formed in 1993 with the intent to provide a challenging yet enjoyable experience in an adult community concert band that performed standard works of the concert band literature.  With the many varied professions of the personnel, however, the rehearsal schedule had to be tailored in such a way as to allow for the many members to attend rehearsals within their work schedules.  As a result the group only gets together to rehearse when a concert is scheduled.

The group performs under the direction of Dr. David Spencer, the retired band director of the Huntsville High School Band.  Over the past 20 years, the Twickenham Winds has performed more than 50 concerts in local churches, Panoply Arts Festival, Concerts in the Park, and Big Spring Park by the spring. In 2006, the group toured Italy, and has plans for a future tour of Ireland in the works.

The Twickenham Winds present 2 concerts annually, in November and May.  We will be performing again in November, 2014.  This concert will feature standard concert band repertoire. Please listen to WLRH  89.3 FM for more information about the upcoming concerts.     For more information about performing with the Twickenham Winds, please contact Marsha Asquith at [email protected]
